Covered hopper wagon for grain and other food products

The covered six-pocket hopper wagon is designed to transport grain and other similar food products in bulk providing weather protection of the cargo. The wagon is suitable for operation on the network of 1,520 mm gauge mainline railways.

Design features:

– the wagon has optimum volume capacity which makes it possible to transport up to 90% of grain cargoes while fully engaging the payload capacity;

– discharging is performed into the area between rails through the unloading hatches;

– a lever and screw drive of unloading mechanism, radial thrust bearings, and a handwheel of increased diameter applied in the car design significantly reduce efforts while closing and opening of unloading hatches;

– the framework of the walls (stakes and roof traverse arcs) is made outside of the body which allows to perform a proper anticorrosion treatment of the inner body sheathing surface, to prolong operation life of the wagon and to reduce the time needed to prepare it before loading;

– comfortable operation of the wagon is ensured due to a centralized sealing of loading and unloading covers with the application of two seals.
